Olympus TCON-17C 1.7x Teleconverter Lens for C5060 ...- User Rating: Summary for Olympus TCON-17C 1.7x Teleconverter Lens for C5060 ...- Sometimes useful device Notes on Olympus TCON-17C 1.7x Teleconverter Lens for C5060 ...- I inherited an Olympus C7070 and within a month of use found myself desiring longer focal lengths - hence the choice to get the TCON-17C. First up, you should know that this must be used with a CLA7 lens adapter - so if you don't have one, you will have to buy that also. The teleconverter does allow me to get in a bit tighter on some subjects, but the 1.7x did not make as much as difference as I had hoped. I also found that the camera had some focusing problems when the teleconverter was attached. This was especially the case when I tried to use the camera in macro mode and get in really close on some subjects. The camera really had a very hard time focusing then. If you already own the Olympus C7070 wide angle and are looking for a bit more in the telephoto range, I would say that it could be a useful addition as long as you are willing to live with the focus issues. However, if you are trying to decide what camera to get and you are thinking of the C7070 plus the TCON-17C teleconverter, I would tell you not to waste your money - especially if you are going to be shooting in the telephoto range a lot. Get one of those cameras with a 10X or greater optical zoom - there are quite a few out there now, and some even go up to 18X.
